Im thinking simply create a new canvas of the exact dimentions of the sculptris window, then just pasting your image over the top of that, then resave as a new image. You'll have to render with another software, but you'll gain a lot more room for detail. You can go straight to paint, or you could delete the basemesh, and paint the extract seperately. Hi can anyone tell me whether can you model something with Sculptris, import it into Maya 2013, rig it and animate it Many thanks. Finaly hide your basemesh, and use Grab and Inflate to fix he poke-throughs. Then use Scale and Grab to get it mostly into place. Then just import your extract, checking "Facing camera" so there's no need to rotate. But always press Z after moving and while your basemesh is facing mostly forward, to reset to Front view. 2) you can sub divide in order to sculpt fine details, however you must return back to the original sub division level when your model is done and ready to back to daz studio So typically what I do in zBrush is import a genesis2 wo/man, sub divide and sculpt. You may want to move and scale your basemesh before you import your extract, after a few tries you'll understand. Back in Sculptris, start by opening or importing your basemesh. Meshmixer chooses the smaller area but if thats what you want to keep you need to invert. I'm fully aware that Sculptris is an old program and no longer has support via Pixelogic (a huge reason why I came to this Reddit), I'm totally willing to wait until Zbrush gains ARM support, but I really wish to work on some 3D so I can put my printers to work. That may help you for this particular case, but as I mentioned above you probably should not expect to use Sculptris as a way to modify just any MoI object in general, it will probably only work if you have a pretty simple and smooth shape. So you may not always be able to use it to modify things that you build in MoI, Sculptris is kind of more oriented towards importing or starting with pretty simple base shapes as the initial starting point for sculpting.Īlso it's not really set up to handle things with a lot of sharp edges in them either.īut the particular error that you ran into in this case may be due to n-gon polygons in the file, try switching to "Output: Triangles only" when exporting from MoI: I don't think that Sculptris is able to import just any kind of geometry - it doesn't like it when there are a lot of edges radiating out from a single point. > says "Failed to import, has faces with more than four corners" When I try to import obj file I created in MOI, Sculptris
